Description
Between club sets and mobile gigs, your monitoring chain needs to be as portable as your gear bag — and the FiiO Q3 fits right in. This compact DAC and headphone amp pairs an AKM AKM4462 DAC chip with a THX-designed amplifier stage using feed-forward error correction topology, so what you hear through your cans is an accurate, low-distortion read on your mix rather than a colored approximation.
Under the hood, an XMOS XUF208 chip handles the heavy lifting, decoding PCM audio up to 768kHz/32-bit and DSD files up to DSD512 (11.2MHz) — more resolution than most DJ monitoring setups will ever demand. Hook it up via the aux-in jack or USB Type-C, and drive anything from standard 3.5mm unbalanced headphones to 2.5mm or 4.4mm balanced pairs. A multifunction button lets you toggle power modes on the fly, while selectable output power settings and a switchable bass boost let you dial in the low-end punch you need for beatmatching or just critical listening.
The rounded body houses an analog volume pot topped with an RGB ring that glows a different color depending on the sample rate playing — a handy visual check when you’re juggling sources between sets. Battery life runs up to 8.5 hours, and the shielding keeps interference out of your signal path, which matters when you’re standing near a wall of amps.
In the box: a dual USB Type-C head cable, a Lightning-to-Type-C cable for iOS gear, a USB Type-C data cable, a storage bag, a non-slip mat, a 3.5mm line cable, and a set of binding straps to keep everything tidy in transit.
