Description
Electro-Voice built the TX1181 as the low-frequency workhorse for the Tour X line, pairing naturally with the TX1122 and TX1152 tops when a rig needs more chest-thump than a standard two-way can deliver. At its core sits the EVS-18S woofer, a high-excursion 18-inch driver designed to move serious air without breaking a sweat on long sets.
Because the internal crossover includes a 6 dB/octave low-pass filter, you can wire this sub in parallel with your tops straight off the amp — no extra outboard crossover box required. That simplifies setup for touring crews and mobile DJs alike who need to load in, patch, and go. A Neutrik NL4 connector handles the parallel hookup cleanly.
On the numbers: 100 dB sensitivity and a calculated max SPL of 132 dB give this box real headroom, backed by 500W continuous and 2000W peak power handling into its 8-ohm nominal (7.5-ohm minimum) load. Recommended high-pass point is 30 Hz, so it’s tuned to dig deep without overworking itself.
Physically, the cabinet is braced plywood and MDF finished in EV’s durable black EVCoat, ready for van loads and stage moves. A top-side pole socket lets you stack a top cabinet directly above it, and six mounting points accept an optional wheel kit for rolling the 74.52 lb enclosure in and out of venues.
