Description
The Sennheiser HD 650 is less an accessory than a monitoring tool — engineered for producers, engineers, and critical listeners who need to hear exactly what’s happening in a mix, not a flattered version of it. Its open-back design lets air move freely through the earcups, delivering a natural, spacious soundstage that closed headphones simply can’t replicate, making it ideal for home studio work and long, detailed listening sessions on a stationary hi-fi or audio interface.
Every pair is hand-matched to tight tolerances (+/-1 dB), so left and right channels stay honest with each other — a detail that matters when you’re judging stereo balance or tonal accuracy. Lightweight aluminium voice coils keep transient response quick and precise, while acoustic silk damping evens out frequency response across the diaphragm for a smoother, more consistent tone.
Comfort holds up over marathon sessions thanks to an elliptical earcup shape modeled on real ear geometry, plus a titanium/silver finish that’s as durable as it looks. The cable detaches, is Kevlar-reinforced for durability, and uses oxygen-free copper conductors to keep handling noise and signal loss to a minimum.
- Open, dynamic circumaural design
- 42mm aluminium voice coil drivers
- Frequency response: 10Hz–41kHz
- 300 ohm impedance — pairs well with dedicated headphone amps
- Detachable 9.8′ straight cable, Kevlar-reinforced, OFC copper
- 1/4″ plug with 1/8″ adapter included
- Velour earpads, black finish, .57 lbs
Note: the 300-ohm impedance means the HD 650 shines when driven by a proper headphone amp or high-output interface rather than a phone or laptop jack alone.
