Description
The Sennheiser HD 820 rewrites what a closed-back headphone can do, closing off outside noise without closing off the airy, spacious sound that reference listening demands. At the heart of each earcup sits a concave Gorilla Glass reflector, engineered to steer driver energy toward a dedicated acoustic absorption system rather than letting it bounce around inside the cup. The result is a closed design that behaves like an open one — minus the resonance, distortion, and frequency masking that usually come with sealed housings.
Each pair is built around 56mm ring radiator dynamic transducers, mounted to the drive unit at both inner and outer edges for rock-solid structural stability and consistent playback. Designed in Germany and assembled by hand at Sennheiser’s Ireland facility, every HD 820 unit even ships with its own individual frequency response plot, tied to its serial number — a nod to the precision behind the build.
Comfort gets the same attention as acoustics: an adjustable metal headband and microfiber-padded earcups keep long studio or listening sessions fatigue-free. Connectivity is flexible too, with XLR-4, 1/4-inch, and 4.4mm jack plug options included.
